Keep it Like a Secret

J2K! J2K!

1:09 p.m., Jun. 23, 2003

I've been on a bit of a diaryland hiatus. It's nothing against diaryland or blogging - it's just that I've been so busy at work that I haven't been able to enter anything during the day, and then when I get home, I don't want to do anything involving a computer, except play The Sims Superstar*.

So this doesn't get updated.

Anyway.

This weekend, I saw the best movie ever. EVER.

It is called From Justin to Kelly. As one of the people who helped propel this fine piece of cinema to No. 11 in the box office this week, I feel somehow compelled to let everyone know what they're missing.

You are missing one of the greatest misfires of modern filmmaking ever made. This is a movie about text messaging, and how you should never become BFF with someone named Alexa because she is evil and she will send fake text messages to your true love, with whom you connected on a very deep level in a bathroom.

By the way, this "true love" is clearly a gay man.

J2K, as its known in my house, is the result of someone handing a Shakespearean comedy of errors to a roomful of monkeys, who adapted it and then handed it off for songwriting by Dianne Warren, who then handed it off to Britney Spears to do the choreography.

It's the only movie I've ever been to where everyone in the theater is there for kitsch value.

None of us were disappointed.

*Best game ever. EVER. But not in the way that J2K is the best movie ever EVER. More like the way that Buffy is the best tv show ever EVER.
